How to Recycle Other 7 – Miscellaneous Plastic

Covering all kinds of things from Headlight Lenses to Safety Glasses and even kitchenware, Other 7 plastic or polycarbonate, is also called the miscellaneous plastic. Other 7 is a mixture of plastics 1 through to 6 or another resin that isn’t one of the Numbers 1-6 and generally cannot be broken down.

Other 7 plastic items are generally un-recyclable because they are a mixture of plastics and therefore have inbuilt contamination. Avoid these types of plastics when possible, especially for food storage.

This plastic is commonly used for products such as headlight lenses and safety glasses, automotive, aircraft and boating, electrical and medical, some kitchenware, plastic baby bottles, 'sports' water bottles, metal food can liners, clear plastic ‘sippy’ cups and some clear plastic cutlery. New bio-based plastics may also be labelled 7.
