How to Recycle Milk Cartons

Milk cartons are fully recyclable and can generally be placed in your council recycling bin.

Long life milk bottles are also recyclable. Recycling milk and cream cartons is the best and most environmentally friendly way to dispose of these items.

Rinse the milk cartons before placing in the recycling bin and pour the liquid into your garden. It will love you for the calcium.

Reuse milk cartons in the home in all kinds of DIY crafts. Cut them down as great paint pots for kids, use them as moulds for candles, mud cakes or propagating seedlings.

Milk cartons are made from liquid paperboard. It is excellent for recycling and usually does not require additional bleaching.

The plastic waterproof coating is separated and reused in plastic recycling. 

Every tonne of paper recycled saves thirteen trees, more than two barrels of oil, over 4000kW of electricity, over 30000L of water and four cubic metres of landfill.

While they may seem similar in packaging, disposable coffee cups are not recyclable. Disposable coffee cups have a polystyrene lining to prevent the cup from going soft and flimsy; this lining renders the item unrecyclable.
